Our favourite things to do and see in the area
Loch Lomond
The largest fresh water loch in Scotland, it is a stunning place to visit for landscapes and wildlife. The best way to see the loch is from a cruise on the water and we recommend Cruise Loch Lomond.
The Hill House
One of the finest and most unique country houses ever built in Scotland, The Hill House, Helensburgh, was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the Blackie family in 1902. The whole house was his original concept and, with his wife Margaret McDonald, their plans and designs covered both the exterior and the interior including furniture and fittings. The house and gardens are now fully open to the public and, without doubt, an essential stop in any tour of the local area.
Golf
Within the immediate area are several splendid golf courses such as Cardross Golf Club and Helensburgh Golf Club, both of which overlook the Firth of Clyde. In addition, the newly opened Carrick Golf Club and Spa or World of Golf in Clydebank make excellent days out to suit all the family.

Inveraray Castle and Town
One of the best day tours to experience is a trip to Inveraray, the estate town built by the 3rd Duke of Argyll in the mid 1700s. Here you can wander around this beautiful town and its main street, enjoy the cosy atmosphere of the George Hotel, visit Inveraray Jail Museum and the seat of the current Duke of Argyll, Inveraray Castle.
